With the widespread use of wireless and the integration of VPN capabilities in most modern laptops, PDA’s and mobile phones, there is a growing desire for encrypting more and more communications to prevent eavesdropping. Can you trust the coffee shop’s wireless network? Is your neighbor watching your wireless? Or are your competitors perhaps engaged in industrial espionage? Do you need to send information back to your office while on the road or on board a ship? Or do you just want to securely access your MP3’s at home? IPsec is the industry standard for encrypted communication, and Openswan is the de-facto implementation of IPsec for Linux.
Whether you are just connecting your home DSL connection with your laptop when you’re on the road to access your files at home, or you are building an industry size, military strength VPN infrastructure for a medium to very large organization, this book will assist you in setting up Openswan to suit those needs.
The topics discussed range from designing, to building, to configuring Openswan as the VPN gateway to deploy IPsec using Openswan. It not only for Linux clients, but also the more commonly used Operating Systems such as Microsoft Windows and MacOSX. Furthermore it discusses common interoperability examples for third party vendors, such as Cisco, Checkpoint, Netscreen and other common IPsec vendors.
The authors bring you first hand information, as they are the official developers of the Openswan code. They have included the latest developments and upcoming issues. With experience in answering questions on a daily basis on the mailing lists since the creation of Openswan, the authors are by far the most experienced in a wide range of successful and not so successful uses of Openswan by people worldwide.

The decision to invest in oil field development is an extremely complex problem, even in the absence of uncertainty, due to the great number of technological alternatives that may be used, to the dynamic complexity of oil reservoirs - which involves multiphase flows (oil, gas and water) in porous media with phase change, and to the complicated combinatorial optimization problem of choosing the optimal oil well network, that is, choosing the number and types of wells (horizontal, vertical, directional, multilateral) required for draining oil from a field with a view to maximizing its economic value.
The present book is a result of about 4 years of research in this area through a partnership between the Applied Computational Intelligence Laboratory (ICA) of the Department of Electrical Engineering at PUC-Rio, and Petrobras, through its R&D (research and development) program called PRAVAP (Advanced Oil Recovery Program), which is linked to its research center (CENPES). The book makes use of computational intelligence techniques, especially genetic algorithms, genetic programming, neural networks, fuzzy logic and neuro-fuzzy systems for purposes of solving this investment under uncertainty problem. These techniques are combined with modern finance theory, particularly with the real options theory, also known as the investment under uncertainty theory, in such a way as to provide practical as well as theoretically rigorous solutions. This partnership, through which countless master’s and doctoral theses were produced at PUC-Rio and computational methodologies and programs were developed for Petrobras, has been summarized in this original and comprehensive work, now available to a wider audience of researchers and interested readers.

The field of binary Logics has two main areas of application, the Digital Design of Circuits (related to Electrical Engineering) and Propositional Logics (related to Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Complexity etc.). In both cases it is quite possible to teach the theoretical foundations and to do some exercises, but in both cases the examples that can be done in class and by hand are far away from examples that are relevant for practical problems. Therefore a software package called XBOOLE Monitor will be made available (downloadable, without additional fees), and the exercises given in Logic Functions and Equations can be solved by using this software package – in this way it is possible to solve a lot of relevant problems and to study the solutions based on this software.

The book consists of three sections. The first two sections will inspire you. They showcase real-life projects on BPEL-based integration and development of composite applications. You’ll see that SOA is a reality today, learn what successful implementations are like, and how SOA can work for you right now. It will encourage you to take a plunge into the world of services and test-drive SOA yourself. If you are already in the middle of an SOA implementation, these sections will offer you fresh insight into your current approach, help you to deal with specific business challenges, and make sure what you do is in line with the best practice.
The third section will equip you with BPEL techniques to build better SOA applications. These techniques represent the practical implementation of best practice, with code snippets ranging from development to administration of an SOA application. They are generic enough to be applied in any of your existing projects yet specific enough to enable you reap the full benefits from your SOA implementation.

This step-by-step, hands on guide will take you right into the Visual Studio 2005 Integrated Development Interface making you appreciate and understand how Business Intelligence Projects and Packages are created using the Visual Studio designer.
Sql Server Integration Services with the acronym SSIS is a comprehensive ETL tool that made its debut with SQL Server 2005. It is a tool tightly integrated with the Visual Studio 2005 having all the functionalities that its forerunner DTS (Data Transformation Services) had in SQL Server 2000. This does not mean that it is just an improvement over DTS but a product which is totally different with a vastly improved interface; an extensible architecture; an enlarged tool set; ease of integration with other SQL Server Tools such as Analysis Services; capable of supporting connectivity with third party databases and bringing into a central location many database management tasks.
Beginners Guide to SQL Server Integration Services Using Visual Studio 2005 provides you with the basic knowledge that you should have before you move on to more advanced ETL [Extraction, Transformation, and Loading]. The book will also provide you with a comprehensive description of the many designer windows that you may encounter while working with the designer. This guide provides the building blocks describing each block by way of an example as well as describing the nuts and bolts that bind the blocks. A majority of SSIS tasks are covered in this book and they are described fully in the summary of table contents section. You start building packages right from Chapter 2 and continue on to Chapter 20 gathering and building upon your knowledge in each step.
The book will give you step-by-step explanation of the examples in the book. In each chapter you will get a little background of the SSIS task that you are going to create. You will then step through the numbered steps, creating, configuring, executing, and reviewing the results. The book has minimal coding (only two chapters) and exclusively uses the Visual Studio 2005 Designer.

This book is your guide that will show you how you can optimize your marketing efforts and achieve an even greater return on your marketing investment.
While many of us will recognize a good, well-thought-out marketing campaign when we see one, the single, basic truth about world-class marketing campaign development is that it is easy to say, but hard to do. It is hard to do because we all like to take short-cuts. I hear the lament all too often: “I’m over-worked don’t have the time to think strategically” or “Planning is overrated. I just need to get these projects done.” As a result, we take short-cuts like “ready, fire, aim.” Lack of planning is the slippery slope that leads to wasteful marketing. Then one day we get the call from the corner office to come and explain why our marketing efforts did not produce the desired results.
Luckily, architecting world-class campaigns is achievable for any marketing team. Successful marketing requires following a disciplined, systematic approach to working cross-functionally and cross-regionally in order to prioritize marketing objectives, design a customer-engaging go-to-market strategy, and execute the plan.

Once a basic understanding of the various request types is discussed, the book moves on to provide in-depth examples of how and when to use Ajax in a web site or web application. Different data transmission formats, including plain text, HTML, XML, and JSON are discussed for their advantages and disadvantages. Also included is a discussion on web services and how they may be used to perform Ajax techniques. Next, more complex topics are covered. A chapter introducing a request management framework explores how to manage all of the requests inside of an Ajax application. Ajax debugging techniques are also discussed.
The last part of the book walks through the creation of two full-fledged Ajax web applications. The first, FooReader.NET, is an Ajax-powered RSS reader. The second, called AjaxMail, is an Ajax-enabled email system. Both of these applications incorporate many of the techniques discussed throughout the book.
Professional Ajax 2nd edition adds nearly 200 pages of new and expanded coverage compared to the first edition. Some of the new topics covered here include:
And of course the Second Edition retains and updates the core first edition content including:
