Alfresco Developer Guide

Alfresco Developer Guide

Product Description

Alfresco is an open source platform for Enterprise Content Management
solutions. ECM includes things like Document Management, Web Content
Management, Collaboration/Enterprise 2.0, Digital Asset Management, Records
Management, and Imaging. At its core is a repository for rich content like
documents, web assets, XML, and multimedia. The repository is surrounded by
a services layer (supporting both SOAP and REST) that makes getting content
into and out of the repository a breeze, which is why so many next
generation Internet solutions are built on Alfresco.

Implementing Alfresco usually involves extending the repository to
accommodate your business-specific metadata and business logic. These
extensions are done using some combination of Java, JavaScript, XML, and

This book takes you through a set of exercises as if you were rolling out
and customizing the platform for a fictional organization called SomeCo,
which wants to roll out Alfresco enterprise-wide. Each department has a set
of requirements that need addressed. We will show you how to extend
Alfresco to meet these requirements. By the time youve worked through the
entire book, you will be familiar with the entire platform. Youll be
prepared to make your own customizations whether they are part of a
Document Management solution, a web site that uses Alfresco for content
storage, or an entire custom application built on Alfrescos REST API. This
book will give you the knowledge and confidence you need to make Alfresco
do what you need it to do.

The Dissimilarity Representation for Pattern Recognition: Foundations And

The Dissimilarity Representation for Pattern Recognition: Foundations And

Product Description

This book provides a fundamentally new approach to pattern recognition in
which objects are characterized by relations to other objects instead of by
using features or models. This dissimilarity representation bridges the gap
between the traditionally opposing approaches of statistical and structural
pattern recognition. Physical phenomena, objects and events in the world
are related in various and often complex ways. Such relations are usually
modeled in the form of graphs or diagrams.

While this is useful for communication between experts, such representation
is difficult to combine and integrate by machine learning procedures.
However, if the relations are captured by sets of dissimilarities, general
data analysis procedures may be applied for analysis. With their detailed
description of an unprecedented approach absent from traditional textbooks,
the authors have crafted an essential book for every researcher and systems
designer studying or developing pattern recognition systems.

The elements of artificial intelligence: An introduction using LISP

The elements of artificial intelligence: An introduction using LISP

The purpose of this book is to provide an up-to-date and didactically
coherent introduction to the principles and programming methods of
artificial intelligence. It is appropriate for an undergraduate or
first-year graduate course. While it is possible for the student to get
acquainted with artificial intelligence in a single quarter or semester, a
sequence of two to three quarters or semesters is preferable.

The author covers most of the material in two academic quarters at the
University of Washington. During the first quarter, Chapters 1 through 6 or
7 are tackled, laying a foundation of symbol manipulation, knowledge
representation and inference. The second quarter takes on the more advanced
topics: learning, natural language understanding, vision and the
integration of AI technology into expert systems.

If programming is to be given a heavy emphasis, the material can be spread
over more than two quarters; more of the problems may be assigned, and the
instructor may wish to spend some time discussing various aspects of the
assignments. In the final term of a two- or three-course sequence, a term
project by each student, which can grow out of one of the programs provided
in the text, can be very successful.

Unlike other AI texts, The Elements of Artificial Intelligence integrates
the presentation of principles with actual runnable LISP illustrations. I
have attempted to implement a large enough fraction of these ideas in
fully-presented LISP programs to allow the student to gain enough intuition
through experiment to support his/her understanding of all the principles

Unconstrained Face Recognition

Unconstrained Face Recognition

Product Description

Face recognition has been actively studied over the past decade and
continues to be a big research challenge. Just recently, researchers have
begun to investigate face recognition under unconstrained conditions.
Unconstrained Face Recognition provides a comprehensive review of this
biometric, especially face recognition from video, assembling a collection
of novel approaches that are able to recognize human faces under various
unconstrained situations.

The underlying basis of these approaches is that, unlike conventional face
recognition algorithms, they exploit the inherent characteristics of the
unconstrained situation and thus improve the recognition performance when
compared with conventional algorithms.

Unconstrained Face Recognition is structured to meet the needs of a
professional audience of researchers and practitioners in industry. This
volume is also suitable for advanced-level students in computer science.

Image Alignment And Stitching

Image Alignment And Stitching

Product Description

Image Alignment and Stitching: A Tutorial reviews image alignment and image
stitching algorithms. Image alignment algorithms can discover the
correspondence relationships among images with varying degrees of overlap.
They are ideally suited for applications such as video stabilization,
summarization, and the creation of panoramic mosaics. Image stitching
algorithms take the alignment estimates produced by such registration
algorithms and blend the images in a seamless manner, taking care to deal
with potential problems such as blurring or ghosting caused by parallax and
scene movement as well as varying image exposures.

Image Alignment and Stitching: A Tutorial reviews the basic motion models
underlying alignment and stitching algorithms, describes effective direct
(pixel-based) and feature-based alignment algorithms, and describes
blending algorithms used to produce seamless mosaics. It closes with a
discussion of open research problems in the area. Image Alignment and
Stitching: A Tutorial is an invaluable resource for anyone planning or
conducting research in this particular area, or computer vision generally.
The essentials of the topic are presented in a tutorial style and an
extensive bibliography guides towards further reading.

Mesh Parameterization Methods And Their Applications

Mesh Parameterization Methods And Their Applications

Product Description

Parameterizations between surface meshes and a variety of domains have
numerous applications in computer graphics and geometry processing. In
recent years numerous methods for parameterizing meshes have been
developed, targeting diverse parameter domains and focusing on different
parameterization properties. Mesh Parameterization Methods and their
Applications reviews the various parameterization methods, summarizing the
main ideas of each technique and focusing on the practical aspects of the

It also provides examples of the results generated by many of the more
popular methods. When several methods address the same parameterization
problem, the survey strives to provide an objective comparison between them
based on criteria such as parameterization quality, efficiency and
robustness. Mesh Parameterization Methods and their Applications provides
guidance to researchers and developers when assessing the suitability of
different methods for various applications. The authors focus on the
practical aspects of the methods available, such as time complexity and
robustness. They also provide multiple examples of parameterizations
generated using different methods, allowing the reader to visually evaluate
and compare the results.
