Consider this Marl can analyze 7 stock charts per second Marl can process 1,986,832 mathematical
calculations per second Feedback loop allows Marl to constantly be perfecting its trading formula
Marl can be extremely selective I would never suggest that any automated trading system can pick
winners all the time. But it doesn’t have to. It simply needs to give us an edge with its ability
to analyze massive amounts of data that we simply couldn’t do ourselves. You might wonder, is this
edge enough to make a difference? Think about this; the rules of casino games are designed such
that the house has a very slight advantage over the player. In blackjack the edge for the casino
is only about 2%. This means the casino has a positive expectation of 2%. But this two percent is
enough to make a killing for these casinos! You don’t think the luxury of Las Vegas was built on
hotel room fees and restaurant tabs do you? The edge in the casino is kept small so the player
wins “almost” as often as they lose (providing they know how to play properly), but in the long
run if they keep playing the house will end up with their money. The casino knows that with proper
money management that 2% can turn into a fortune in a very short period of time. And so it is with
trading. If we can achieve even a small edge such that our trading system has a positive expectation
then, through proper risk and money management, we can parlay our bankroll into a fortune. With Marl,
and the Doubling Stocks newsletter, mining the market data for profitable opportunities I can focus
my energy on money and risk management, which every successful trader knows is the cornerstone of
success in the markets.

Cisco Press Firewall Fundamentals Jun 2006

http://www.ciscopress.com/ShowCover.asp?isbn=1587052210&type=c

Product Description

The essential guide to understanding and using firewalls to protect personal computers and your network

  • An easy-to-read introduction to the most commonly deployed network security device
  • Understand the threats firewalls are designed to protect against
  • Learn basic firewall architectures, practical deployment scenarios, and common management and troubleshooting tasks
  • Includes configuration, deployment, and management checklists

Increasing reliance on the Internet in both work and home environments has radically increased the vulnerability of computing systems to attack from a wide variety of threats. Firewall technology continues to be the most prevalent form of protection against existing and new threats to computers and networks. A full understanding of what firewalls can do, how they can be deployed to maximum effect, and the differences among firewall types can make the difference between continued network integrity and complete network or computer failure. Firewall Fundamentals introduces readers to firewall concepts and explores various commercial and open source firewall implementations–including Cisco, Linksys, and Linux–allowing network administrators and small office/home office computer users to effectively choose and configure their devices. Firewall Fundamentals is written in clear and easy-to-understand language and helps novice users understand what firewalls are and how and where they are used. It introduces various types of firewalls, first conceptually and then by explaining how different firewall implementations actually work. It also provides numerous implementation examples, demonstrating the use of firewalls in both personal and business-related scenarios, and explains how a firewall should be installed and configured. Additionally, generic firewall troubleshooting methodologies and common management tasks are clearly defined and explained.

Product Description

Implement Frame Relay solutions on Cisco networks with this definitive resource

Today, with Frame Relay’s widespread popularity, major service providers around the world offer Frame Relay as one of their core services, and it has become an important technology for connecting data networks across North America, Europe, and Asia. In short, Frame Relay is a high-speed, high-performance, Layer 2 packet-switched technology designed for communication across WANs. Frame Relay is often described as a streamlined version of the X.25 protocol, and it can be implemented over a variety of other network interfaces, including ISDN. Frame Relay users have found that it provides a number of benefits over alternative technologies:

  • Lower cost of ownership
  • Well-established and widely adopted standards that allow open architecture and plug-and-play service implementation
  • Low overhead combined with high reliability
  • Network scalability, flexibility, and disaster recovery
  • Interworking with other new services and applications, such as ATM

Along with these benefits and the growing popularity of Frame Relay comes the need for information and solutions to design issues, implementation, quality of service, and high availability. To meet this need, Cisco Frame Relay Solutions Guide provides comprehensive coverage of Frame Relay technologies and the Cisco Frame Relay solutions developed in Cisco IOS® Software from release 12.0 up to 12.2(T). Both Frame Relay beginners, who need to understand the technology, and advanced readers, who need information on the wide range of Frame Relay features Cisco® offers, will benefit from this book. However, Cisco Frame Relay Solutions Guide is a useful design, implementation, and configuration guide for networking professionals of all levels.

  • Design the perfect Frame Relay solution, using the detailed explanation of the Frame Relay implementation process
  • Configure Frame Relay on Cisco routers with comprehensive step-by-step instructions
  • Understand each feature of Frame Relay by using configuration examples and explanations
  • Use Cisco oriented case studies with design scenarios to understand real-life examples of each feature¿s application and relevance
  • Contains valuable tips and hints for troubleshooting Frame Relay connections

Cisco Press Integrated Cisco and Unix Network Architectures

Posted: 31 May 2009 06:28 AM PDT

http://www.ciscopress.com/ShowCover.asp?isbn=1587051214&type=c

Product Description

Design, build, and operate integrated gateway routing systems

  • Learn how to design, build, and administer integrated gateway routing systems
  • Identify the advantages and disadvantages of Cisco/UNIX integrated designs
  • Review lab exercises throughout the book that bring concepts to life
  • Encounter the fascinating world of dynamic UNIX routing and TCP/IP stacks
  • Understand the way forwarding and signaling are implemented in the UNIX world
  • Gain proficiency with tunnels and VPNs
  • Utilize advanced features such as high availability, NAT, bandwidth management, policy routing, and multicast architectures
  • Explore Linux and BSD networking concepts

UNIX gateways introduce massive performance possibilities at a fraction of the price of dedicated proprietary appliances by performing network tasks entirely in software. With Cisco Systems routers dominating the Internet and enterprise networking and UNIX routing and gateway solutions spreading from within server farms and data centers, new opportunities and possibilities arise for system and network administrators who understand the benefit of integrated designs. For example, the use of UNIX gateways can enable intrusion detection, firewalling, cable and DSL access, terminal servers and access concentrators, VPNs, roaming user support, and other LAN and WAN services. Far from being mutually exclusive, Cisco devices, UNIX operating systems, and open source applications can enjoy a peaceful, perhaps even inevitable, coexistence for years to come. Integrated Cisco and UNIX Network Architectures shows how Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls seamlessly work together with UNIX operating systems in an integrated networking and security environment.

Integrated Cisco and UNIX Network Architectures reveals not just the feasibility but also the desirability of Cisco/UNIX integrated routing with regard to systems integration, interoperability, and feature requirements. Detailed, progressively complex lab scenarios emphasize enterprise and ISP requirements, casting light on the similarities and differences of these two worlds. Platform issues, such as behavior of firewall filters, kernel features, and proper standards compliance, are discussed, analyzed with sniffers, and tested with handcrafted traffic from packet generators and test applications.

If you want to master and maximize the operation of your UNIX and Cisco network architectures, this book shows you how.

This book is part of the Networking Technology Series from Cisco Press¿ which offers networking professionals valuable information for constructing efficient networks, understanding new technologies, and building successful careers.
