Internetwork Expert CCIE Routing And Switching Open Lecture Series Version 4 DISC 2 | 2.76GB

Internetwork Expert's CCIE Routing & Switching Open Lecture Series is an ongoing online course — keeping in line with our revolutionary CCIE RS 4.0 Program model — which provides candidates continuing live interaction with the industry's most experienced CCIE authors and instructors. The dynamic format of this series ensures that candidates always have an outlet for getting their questions answered in real-time throughout the lifetime of their preparation.

Drop into Class Anytime
With the Open Lecture Series candidates can drop into any class session at any time to interact with our instructors in real-time. Two 1-to-2-hour sessions on average are scheduled periodically on pre-defined topics. This means that if your lab preparation takes 8 months, you could potentially attend over 100 days of class, as opposed to a traditional 5-day brick-and-mortar class. In addition to pre-defined topics on the schedule, additional open instructor hours are also included.

Open Instructor Hours
With open instructor hours candidates can join a session to discuss any topic of their choice, much like how a professor's office hours work in a traditional university. This means that if you're having trouble understanding Catalyst QoS, our instructors can walk you step-by-step through the topic — just ask!

Class-on-Demand Included
Best of all, any session that candidates want to go back and review, or were unable to attend, is immediately available in electronic Class-on-Demand format following the conclusion of a class session. These Class-on-Demand modules are available in a self-paced online format, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

CBT Nuggets MCAS Series Microsoft Office Access 2007

Posted: 11 Mar 2010 10:21 PM PST

CBT Nuggets MCAS Series Microsoft Office Access 2007
With Microsoft Access and these training videos, you can create powerful custom databases and database applications.

Microsoft Access 2007 combines all the power of previous versions of Access, plus there’s a new interface and some new features you’ll want to know if you want to get the most out of it.

In the MCAS Series: Microsoft Office Access 2007 videos, you’ll learn about the new features plus the core functionalities of Access. You’ll soon be creating custom databases that run from your desktop.

Once you watch these videos, you’ll know what it takes to get Access up and running, and to use the features you need to input, output, process, and delete data in your Access database. Plus you’ll be able to create simple interfaces for your users so even if they’re not as skilled as you, you can still give them access to the information stored in your databases.

Here’s what you’ll learn in each video:

Video 1 – “Introduction to Access 2007″ – Welcome to Microsoft Office Access 2007! Things are a little different than you’re used to, so here’s a quick tour. This video walks through the Access 2007 interface including the Navigation Bar, the Office 2007 Ribbon and the Office button. The new Access templates are also covered. Plus you’ll jump right in and create a new database.

Video 2 – “Introduction to Tables” – Tables are the core of everything in Access. This video begins your journey into Access by showing how to create tables. You’ll learn what to consider when you design tables, how to create primary keys, and finally how to add, edit, and delete records from your tables.

Video 3 – “Table Properties” – Tables are taken to the next level in this video. If you want your tables to work well and retain their integrity as they grow, there’s a few things you must know. So in this video you learn how to work with data types, field size, validation rules, required fields and indexes — the secrets to keeping your data clean and scalable.

Video 4 – “Normalizing Data” – Creating normalized tables and setting the appropriate relationships is the foundation of good database design — this video shows you how!

Video 5 – “Simple Queries” – In this video you’ll learn how to write a basic query. ‘Select’ queries are a necessary tool for viewing and reporting data from underlying tables. Knowing how to create solid, powerful queries will be your key to becoming an Access expert — and this video is your start.

Video 6 – “Simple Forms” – An important piece of utilizing any database is adding, deleting and editing information. Forms allow people to do these things without knowing how to use the Access back-end — so if users access your database, you better learn how to make forms. So first in this video you learn form basics. You may be familiar with Design view from previous versions of Access, but with 2007 you get something new… Layout view. This makes it quick and easy to add finishing touches to your form’s design. Plus you’ll learn how Sorting and Filtering information helps users locate specific records.

Video 7 – “Form Design” – Sure… in the last video you learned how you can create a form with the click of a button. But to create a form that does exactly what you want — something you can be proud of — you need to master the Form Design view. That’s what you’ll learn in this video. You’ll use form controls, formatting options, and properties — add these up and you can create your data input masterpiece!

Video 8 – “Query Design” – It may sound backwards until you really wrap your head around it — but in a well-designed database your data is stored separately, in inter-related tables… not all together. But once you have all your data in these separate tables, how do you link table to table to table to bring all your data back together for processing and output? Advanced queries! You’ll learn the beginnings of advanced queries, including how to get data out of your database, and how to clean up duplicate information. Be careful though, not all records are displayed unless you know how to work with query joins — which you’ll also learn in this video.

Video 9 – “Advanced Queries” – Access is jam packed with action queries that can make data maintenance much easier. Now you get to learn how to use them. You can make new tables, append data to existing tables, update values and even delete records based on specific criteria.

Video 10 – “Simple Reports” – Reports are the tool by which your audience will see and interpret your information. Whether you create a simple report or design it from scratch, you will have many tools at your disposal to make your output look clean, clear, and professional. You can even base reports on queries so that only targeted information will be displayed to your audience — think about creating separate reports for your sales manager, accounting, marketing… it’s possible and easier than you think.

Video 11 – “Report Design” – This nugget takes reports to the next level. Once you’ve mastered simple reports you may want to group data to make your information more easily understood — here you’ll learn how. Plus, adding calculated fields can improve the information you are trying to get across to your audience — so you’ll learn how to calculate fields and adjust how the result is displayed.

Video 12 – “Advanced Forms” – For this nugget you go back into forms and learn how to add advanced form features in just a few easy steps. Learn to embed sub forms, add tabs to increase the real estate you have to work with, or even add buttons and combo boxes for extra useful functionalities.

Video 13 – “Simple Macros” – You can improve the performance of your database using macros to automate actions. Macros in Access are very easy to create — in this video you’ll learn how.

Video 14 – “Calculate with Queries” – There’s no doubt that your tables contain information that can be useful for decision making. By harnessing the calculations provided in queries you can sum, count and average information. You can also compare various pieces of data in a crosstab query or simply view the top 25% of the records with a click of a button. You’ll learn how to do all of this in this nugget.

Video 15 – “Advanced Reports” – Being able to store and easily retrieve and display information is why you create a database. Learn to do this more effectively by taking advantage of pivot charts, sub reports, and by adding graphics that add to your ability to share your data.

Video 16 – “Database Tools” – While a lot of the focus in Access is on storing and retrieving information, there’s still some database administration that needs to happen to keep Access running well. Doing this proactively will ensure your databases are optimized and always up. In this nugget you’ll learn how to optimize database performance, split files, and do maintenance including backing up and repairing your databases.

Video 17 – “Security” – Many databases hold confidential information. That’s why assigning users and passwords, plus digitally signing and encrypting databases is important — these are tools you can use to secure your database and make sure confidential information stays confidential. You’ll learn how to do these important security tasks — including using the Office Trust Center that’s new to Office 2007.

Video 18 – “External Data” – Not all of your tables need to be created from scratch. If the data resides in another application you can import it right into Access and this nugget shows you how. Information can also be part of a larger collaboration on a SharePoint server or be the source for a mail merge in Word. You can even update tables automatically based on results from an Outlook email. Reports can be exported to a PDF or an Office 2007 XPS file. In this video you’ll learn all these techniques for importing and exporting your data.

Video 19 – “Create an Application” – The coolest thing about this nugget is that it teaches you how to let users tap the power of your Access 2007 databases without ever launching Access. You’ll learn how to create an application that gives users access to the forms and reports they need without them accidentally going too deep into Access and causing you headaches by clicking on the wrong things.

Video 20 – “Exam Preparation” – If you are planning on taking the MCAS Access 2007 exam this nugget is the one for you. All of the exam objectives including the nuggets that map to the objective are listed and key points are reviewed. This is your final step in using this nugget series to help prepare for the exam.

Put Access skills on your resume and mean it!

This series also maps to exam objectives for Microsoft Certified Application Specialist certification on Microsoft Office Access 2007. This certification proves to current and potential employers that you can create custom desktop database solutions using Microsoft Access. When the ability to use Access productively is essential to your job, this credential signifies to employers that they can rely on you.

The only prerequisite is the willingness to try

It’s time to take off the gloves and really learn Access. This series provides you the hands-on instruction you need to do it. And the only thing you have to bring to the training is a willingness to try out all the cool skills and techniques demonstrated in the videos.
